EWSU and Amcor to Host 2026 Ohio River Sweep Cleanup

In recognition of World Cleanup Day, volunteers from Evansville Water and Sewer Utility and Amcor will participate in their annual river cleanup of the Ohio River banks. The 2026 Ohio River Sweep will be held on Saturday, September 26, at 8:30 a.m. at Sunrise Pump Station, 1200 Waterworks Road.

The public is welcome to join the cleanup. To participate, volunteers must sign a waiver and participate in a safety briefing. Volunteers should come prepared to get dirty and wear closed-toe shoes or boots. Trash bags and gloves will be provided. The event is rain or shine.

The Ohio River Sweep is a program of the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission (ORSANCO). This popular seasonal program raises public awareness about the need for healthy rivers and streams within the Ohio River Basin and is a great opportunity for environmental stewardship.
