Recycling Dos and Don’ts

Recycling reduces waste, saves space in our landfill and makes our environment a healthier place to live. But if you don’t do it the right way your recycling materials may end up in the trash. Follow these tips to make sure your recycling is ready for pickup.

• Know what to recycle. Visit Trash & Recycling for a list of recyclable materials. Recycling glass is a challenge, but there are organizations in Evansville exploring solutions. Stay tuned.
• Know how to recycle. You don’t have to sort your recyclables, but make sure all materials are clean, containers are empty and everything is dry.
• Know when to recycle. City residential customers will have their recycling collected every other week by Republic Services using an automated cart system. View the pickup and holiday schedule and enter your service address for your trash, recycling and holiday schedules.
